The Blue Hole is one of the world's famous dive sites, it plunges into the abyss. This is the deepest part of the Red Sea, and it's only 4m off shore!
You can spend many dives seeing why it has attarcted so many divers across the world. Locals believe a meteorite blasted through the coral to create the famous bue whole seen on the right. The Blue hole is best dived early in the morning, when you can find eagle rays and giant morays...click for more

The Canyon
Another of Dahab's world class dive sites is the Canyon. The canyon stretches all the way from Dahab accross to Saudi Arabia. We enter the canyon near the shore by dropping 10 metres in to a slim canyon where light beams from above light up the mysterious tunel. The best thing about diving the Canyon is that you never know what you are going to see when you drop into the Canyon, from bumphead parrot fish to lionfish, we find a variety of life just round the next corner. Diving the Canyon is an experience, ideal for photographers, and an explorers dive. We drop to 30m into a huge cavern under the sea bed. We normally exit at the Fish Bowl. The Canyon is a fantastci night dive, especially during full moon!

Dahab 15 years ago was a simple Bedouin village with a Mosque and a few camp sites for the local people to stay whilst socialising, fishing, and trading. Soon after backpackers began to visit Dahab for the experience of living in Bedouin tents and experience this Bedouin culture . Soon after this divers discovered many unique and world-class dive sites. Diving in dahab grew and grew and now diving in dahab is one of the most famous locations in the world, holding 2 of the top 20 dive sites in the world. In recent years Dahab has grown some infrastructure for 3* to 5* comfort, allowing tourists to enjoy its majic and mystery in comfort. Dahab is unlikely to come another Sharm el Sheikh, the locals have a strong hold and want to keep it traditional.

Dahab sits on the edge of the awe inspiring Sinai Mountains and overlooks the the mountains of Saudi Arabia 28km away

Dahab Centre
Dahab has a main centre, where you will find a selection of restaurants and bars spread along it. The food is fantastic and the restaurants are Bedouin style, leaving you balancing on a few cushions whilst eating your food. The Blue Hole

The Blue Hole

One of the world's famous dive sites, the Blue Hole plunges to uncharted depths. Excellent conditions and depths make it a magnet for freedivers. For scuba divers, the dive starts at Bells. We follow an open crack in the wall (like a chimney), that pops us out onto an amazing wall dive. This is the deepest part of the Red Sea, and it's less than 5m off shore! Slowly move along the wall, then exit through the Blue Hole. Best early in the morning, when you can find eagle rays and giant morays.

The Blue Hole itself is for experienced technical divers only. Tarek, for example, has explored the site to a depth of 195m and plans to continue his exploration, reaching a maximum depth of 250m.

Because of its narrow diameter and depth, the Blue Hole contains little coral or fish life. It drops to 100m, where a slope begins and continues to 300m. At 300m, you find the end of the slope and the final drop off into the abyss. At 56m there is also an archway and passage that leads into the sea - again, only for experienced technical divers with the proper equipment and preparation. Or for the world's top freedivers, who manage to do it on a single breath of air!

For most of us, it's the wall dive leading from Bells to the Blue Hole that holds our interest. Large grass corals stem from overhangs in the reef wall, and there are frequent sightings of large fish and Rays - especially early in the morning. Bells to Blue Hole is our favourite sunrise dive!
